MDA is pleased to partner with Docomomo Minnesota in welcoming modernism enthusiasts to the 2015 Docomomo US National Symposium, Modernism on the Prairie! Please consider joining us at the symposium on Thursday, June 4th through Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the University of Minnesota College of Design in Minneapolis, MN. Several tours are offered in conjunction with the symposium including bus tours to St. John’s in Collegeville and the IBM campus in Rochester.
MDA has provided restoration design services for some of Minnesota Mid-Century Modern buildings such as the exterior restoration of Carleton College Olin Hall in Northfield, the recent roof replacement of the IDS Tower in downtown Minneapolis, and ongoing roof replacements of the “Big Blue” IBM Manufacturing Facility in Rochester. MDA’s founders also designed the Midwest Federal Savings & Loans Banks in the 1960’s, which were located throughout the Twin Cities. Today, the only remaining building is located in Golden Valley, MN and currently serves as a lighting retail store.
Docomomo is an international organization that stands for the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the modern movement. Amy Artates Carroll, a founding board member of Docomomo Minnesota and designer with MDA, extends an invitation to participate in the symposium. Learn more about Docomomo and the 2015 symposium.
