Chicago (November 19, 2004) – The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute has awarded
Miller Dunwiddie a 2004 PCI Best Parking Structure Award for the Humphrey Ground
Transportation Center at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport in Minneapolis.
The first phase of the terminal building has been in operation since 2001. An expansion
of the terminal is being planned. The parking ramp can accommodate 4,650 cars and
includes the hub for bus, taxi and rental cars. The fully developed parking site will have a
total capacity of 12,300 parking spaces. The light rail station was completed in the
summer of 2004 and the rail line will begin operations in December 2004.
The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute is a national organization dedicated to
fostering greater understanding of the design and use of precast and prestressed concrete.
Since 1963, the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute has sponsored an awards
competition that recognizes excellence in architectural and engineering design of
structures using precast and/or prestressed concrete.
