FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Duluth, Minn. (September 15, 2005) – The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota (PAM) has given Miller Dunwiddie a 2005 Minnesota Preservation Award for their work on the Riley – Jacques Barn in Eden Prairie, Minn.

The Riley-Jacques Barn was rehabilitated to adaptively use the barn as a park facility. The barn’s exterior work included installation of a new wood shingle roof, painting the wood board and batten siding, cleaning the masonry base, and installing new windows. An addition was also designed to accommodate an accessible toilet and code-compliant egress for the upper level of the barn. Other elements added to the interior to help complete this adaptive re-use was a wood stage on the upper level, new restrooms on the lower level, new lighting, and installation of a sprinkler system throughout.

PAM is the only statewide, private, non-profit organization advocating the preservation of Minnesota's historic resources. Each year, PAM bestows preservation awards to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations, and projects that exemplify the Alliance's mission of preserving, protecting, and promoting Minnesota's historic resources.
