MSP International Airport, MN
Originally designed in 1965 by Miller Dunwiddie, the field maintenance facility has been
expanded and improved five times to meet the demands of increasing air traffic and an expanding airport campus.
Since the original building design, the facility has grown to nearly 200,000 SF, including:
offices, crew areas, indoor heated parking for 120 vehicles, and 38,000 SF of heavy
maintenance shop. Additional features include a wash bay that can accommodate two
runway snowplows at one time; welding and machine shop facilities; and expanded
communications and building systems. Miller Dunwiddie is currently designing a $9
million expansion of the facility, to grow the maintenance shop and parts area by 35,000
SF and provide an additional 15,000 SF of equipment storage.
