Kasson, MN
In six weeks the team of Miller Dunwiddie and Schrock-DeVetter Architects produced
the winning scheme in an 18-firm design competition for a grade 9-12 high school.
The school is based upon a departmental education program including: general academic,
music, art and applied technology programs. With an opening day capacity for 600
students and an expansion capacity up to 800 students, the school will have 20 traditional
classrooms and twelve lab/lecture rooms for industrial technology, science, art and
business. In addition, the school will feature a media center with remote small group and
computer labs located in the academic wings; a 1,000-seat auditorium; a two-station
gymnasium with 1,000-seat bleacher capacity; district and high school administration
suites; a 75-seat multi-media forum; and a community center including pool and
racquetball courts.
After completion of the high school, the existing junior high/senior high building will be
renovated and expanded for a middle school.
