Minneapolis, MN
The administration building for this large urban cemetery has been the architectural
gateway to the site since its construction in 1929. Originally the building served as both
administrative offices and the cemetery greenhouse headquarters. Miller Dunwiddie
helped the cemetery restore the administration building and restructure the building to
accommodate modern needs.
We moved the greenhouse activities into a separate building at the rear of the
administration building and converted the grade-level spaces into sales areas and family
conference rooms. On the second level, the vestibule and lobby were restored to their
original design. Two small rooms on the east and west end of the lobby were renovated to
provide comfortable and elegant waiting areas for families. The office for the cemetery
director was also restored, while the administrative office area was updated. The entire
building was updated with new electrical service, ventilation/cooling system, and a
computer information system. The exterior of the administration building was cleaned
and tuck-pointed.
