Menomonie, WI
Miller Dunwiddie Architecture has designed a new entrance addition to the historic Mabel Tainter Theater. Located on Main Street in historic downtown Menomonie, WI, the Richardsonian Romanesque theater was designed by Harvey Ellis and opened in 1889. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a charter member of the League of Historic American Theatres, and a designated Wisconsin Historical Marker Site. The addition was designed to meet accessibility, fire-life safety, and overall functional improvements, and includes a lobby, stairs, elevator, loading facilities and mechanical updates for the entire building. The overall project also includes improvements to the interior of the original building, including new theater seating, new bathrooms, and numerous back-of-house updates. The project has progressed into design development, with construction scheduled to begin in late 2006.
