The Minnesota Shubert Performing Arts and Education Center, now in predevelopment, will be a new high profile performing arts center that will be a home for more than 15 non-profit arts organizations from around the state, a statewide arts education resource and a major contributor to the downtown Minneapolis economy. A new design has been created by Miller Dunwiddie Architecture which preserves the basic relationship between the Minnesota Shubert Center's two historic buildings – Hennepin Center for the Arts, built in 1888, and the Shubert Theatre, built in 1910 – and links them with a distinctive new addition.
The Center is a project of Artspace Projects, a Minneapolis-based national nonprofit real estate developer whose mission is to create and manage space for artists and arts organizations.
