MSP International Airport, MN
Miller Dunwiddie was asked to design a building that would bring multiple Naval and
Marine Reserve Air Wing Support Units together in a single facility. Intended to support
three major reserve units (more than 600 reservists) on a drill weekend, the facility
provides administrative offices, classrooms, auditorium, medical clinic, vehicle
maintenance shops, aircraft maintenance hangar, armory, commercial kitchen,
cafeteria/recreation space, and a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Site improvements include security airside fencing, landscaping, roadway improvements,
400 stalls of reservist parking, Marine Air Wing support motor pool, truck loading ramps,
and loading docks. By combining three distinct and previously separate reserve units in
one building each unit has improved its facilities.
