Minneapolis, MN
As part of an overall master planning effort for the reconstruction of Loring Park, Miller
Dunwiddie provided architectural services to move the 1890s-era Superintendent’s
Building within the park and to rehabilitate it for reuse as part of an outdoor performance
area. The interior, which had been greatly altered over the years, was reconfigured for use
as a dressing area, toilets, and storage. The exterior of the building was restored to its
original appearance. An outdoor stage was built to serve as the performance venue, and
the building was located to provide a backdrop to the stage. Doors and windows in the
building can actually be used during performances to form part of the set.
