Tilsner Artist’s Cooperative
The Tilsner Building is a historic, timber-framed warehouse located in St. Paul’s Lowertown National Register Historic District. It was originally built in 1894 as an office and warehouse, but was gutted and abandoned by the mid-1980s, suffering significant damage from exposure to the elements. Through a complete renovation of the building’s exterior and interior, it was converted into housing and studio space for artists. Working in tandem with the developer and tenants, affordable flexible floor plans were created with a mix of 1-4 bedroom units. The Tilsner also includes a shared gallery and classroom spaces for the tenants.
